Kentucky 2013

We are headed back to Kentucky - Praise the Lord!

We will be conducting our 9th outreach operation to Owsley County, Kentucky June 15th - 22nd. Owsley County is the poorest County in the United States according to the 2010 Census.

We will be conducting several different projects while in Kentucky.

  • Jehovah-Jireh {The Lord will Provide} Food will be providing & serving approximately 380 meals this trip.  Distributing food to those in need and work with Owsley County Outreach Corp and assisting Owsley County Outreach Corp with their backpack program. The goal of the backpack program is to make sure that every child has food while school in not in session.
  • We are collecting single serving size meats (potted, Vienna sausages, spam, ham, chicken, tuna, ect.)  The OCOC has great difficulty finding sponsors for the meats for the backpack program.  Deadline to get in these items is November 15th.
  • We will also be holding a Byways Party for "the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind".
  • June 18th we will be stuffing backpacks at OCOC.
  • Jehovah-Nissi {The Lord our Banner} Closet will be distributing spring/summer wear to those in need.  Any remaining clothing will be given to Owsley County Outreach Corp (OCOC), so they can continue to distribute to those in need.
  • We are collecting new & gently used children & youth clothing 6X to 18 Juniors.  The OCOC advised me that the area is desperate for winter wear clothing.  We will be collecting from now through the beginning of June.  Call for pick-up or drop of at 3155 S. Legacy Park Blvd.  Fort Mill, SC 29707.
  • Jehovah-Jireh {The Lord will Provide} Helps will be working with local ministries and churches to reach out to those in the community who need help.  We plan to provide some physical hands-on support as well as training people to help themselves.
    • We will be conducting Leadership Training: Monday June 17th - Friday June 21st from 10am - 2pm.
  • Jehovah-Shalom {The Lord is Peace} Ministry will be bringing the good news to shut-ins & nursing center along with having lunch with them one day.

  • Jehovah-Rophe {The Lord that Heals} Meetings will be conducting nightly meetings and presenting the too-good-to-be-true news, that really is true.
    • We will be hosting a banquet in honor of those made in the image of God who would normally not get invited to a banquet (e.g. blind, lame, sever epileptic, those who are physically, mentally and emotionally handicap).
      • We are in need of fabric table cloths & flower arrangements for the tables.
    • These meetings will be held nightly @ 7pm & Saturday @ 10am

Donations  Thank you Lord we are now only in need of $2000.00 to do for this upcoming event.  Please give if you can.

Quote from a previous trip “But, even through all the embarrassment, the child was still so excited to get these boxes of food that she could not wait to open one of them, before the driver could leave.  With joy and excitement, she then exclaimed, “Cereal!  We never have cereal!… I love cereal!”  The thrill and excitement that many families don’t see on Christmas Day, with a multitude of presents and thousands of dollars spent, was shown for a simple box of cereal!”  Read more of the story
